EBRD Appoints New Regional Head of Central Europe

Mark Davis has been appointed new Regional Head of Central Europe for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), covering Croatia, the Czech RepublicHungary, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia. Mr Davis will head EBRD operations in the region from 1 September, based in the Bank’s Zagreb Resident Office.

Mr Davis succeeds EBRD Regional Director Victoria Zinchuk, who will be moving to Bucharest to take up her new EBRD country management assignment as of 1 September.

An American national, Mr Davis is currently Director, Regional Head of Romania and Bulgaria. During his tenure, Romania became one of EBRD’s top investment destinations, with cumulative investment of more than € 10 billion.

Mr Davis has 27 years of experience of international financial institutions and commercial banking, with a strong track record of developing business in European Union (EU) countries, eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as strong expertise in global capital markets and structural policy dialogue. He has held various senior positions at the World Bank, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, and at the EBRD prior to his most recent assignment.

Mr Davis has a PhD in Economics from Tulane University in the United States of America.

Mr Davis said: “I am looking forward to leading the Bank’s operations in central Europe, to help the region continue its transition to a competitive, sustainable economy, in line with wider EU targets and ambitions. I look forward to helping to drive investments to support the private sector and foster innovation.”

The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in central Europe. The Bank’s Resident Office in Zagreb acts as a hub for EBRD operations across the region.
